Nancy Eaton

Nancy Kern Eaton is president of the United Way of Central New York. She has spent her career working in non-profit organizations. The United Way of Central New York currently funds 65 programs at 26 agencies. Under Nancy’s leadership, the organization serves as the fiscal home for several strategic community collaborations, including 2-1-1, the Housing & Homeless Coalition, Work Train, and the Literacy Coalition of Onondaga County (LCOC). Nancy serves on the executive committees of the Early Childhood Alliance, LCOC, Work Train, and the Advisory Board of the Housing & Homeless Coalition. She is a member of the Board of Directors of CenterState CEO and the United Way New York State Association.Nancy was proud to play a leadership role in the planning and implementation of the ESPRI initiative in Syracuse and the United Way of CNY served as the fiscal agent for the grant. Successful programs launched in Syracuse using ESPRI funds include the Syracuse Financial Empowerment Center (United Way CNY continues to be the non-profit partner), drop-out prevention program with middle and high school students that continues with funding from Onondaga County, and Pathways to Apprenticeship. Nancy has served in leadership roles at ARISE, Salvation Army of the Syracuse Area, Syracuse Weed & Seed Community Partnership, Home HeadQuarters, and Housing Visions Unlimited. Nancy began her non-profit career as a client advocate at the Erie County Mental Health Association.A graduate of the Leadership Greater Syracuse Class of 2000, Nancy has been honored to receive awards including Career Achievement from the CNY Business Journal, Community Team Spirit Award from the Salvation Army, Key4Women Community Impact Award 2020, Outstanding Fundraiser from the Association of Fundraising Professionals, Woman of Distinction from New York State Senate, Champion for Children from the Boys & Girls Clubs, Northside Hall of Fame, and others.
